Manchester Union Leader to endorse McCain? That’s kind of a big deal. Any sign that movement conservatives are reevaluating McCain is a positive for the Senator.
Chuck Norris, THE Chuck Norris says Huckabee has the big package that voters should check out. Well if Chuck says so, it must be true. That man was the formative influence of my life.
In all seriousness, Norris makes the good point that voters should make a decision based on their beliefs and not try to guess “who can win?”
On a bad note for Huckabee, this Arkansas editorial attacks him as a tax raiser, it wil be interesting to see Team Huck’s response…maybe they’ll send Chuck Norris over to the editorial offices.
McCain’s problems
McCain has spared no one — including President Bush and his administration — in his righteous desire to do right by the troops. “I am the only one on this stage,” McCain noted, “that said the Rumsfeld strategy was failing and was doomed to failure. I’m the only one on this stage that said we’ve got to have a new strategy, and that’s the strategy we’re employing now.”Maybe that’s part of the problem. When I asked Bill Whalen, a research fellow at the Hoover Institution and former adviser to ex-Gov. Pete Wilson, why so many Republicans hate McCain, Whalen saw two main reasons: Much of McCain’s reputation “has come at George Bush’s expense,” and, “He’s too beloved by the media.”Meanwhile back at the ranch, Fred is not campaigning too hard.
When the media meme spread about Thompson being lazy, I wrote it off as typical media attacks on a Republican they didn’t particulary like. However, everytime I see Thompson I have to wonder, he seems to be going through the motions. “I’ll just rattle off a list of conservative talking points in the voice of Wilford Brimley and everyone will vote for me..Eat Quaker Oats, its the right thing to do.”
This has been a major disappointment, yet his strategy has had some notable success.
Anyways, you make the call

Regarding Huckabee as a Tax raiser, definitely the kiss of death in a republican primary.
But I think a pro life republican who raises taxes would carry the base better in a general election then a tax cutting pro choice republican.
Huckabee has to fine a way to keep the other issues in the forefront.
