Saturday Night Mitt Romney says, “Don’t turn the Pharmaceutical Companies into the Big Bad Guys (51 minutes into debate, see debate here), I think this explains where Mitt’s support is coming from.
Huck, who I am supporting, needs to acknowledge flaws in his record. If he has a valid explanation as to why he raised taxes, or why the stats bear our an inference of tax increases that’s fine. Acknowledge, and then explain. I think he came across poorly in denying the statistics regarding tax cuts. Looking evasive is never an acceptable political strategy.
John McCain did what I think he needed to do to to win New Hampshire. Sunday night more than Saturday Night. McCain had good answers to tough questions. And toned down the negative rhetoric, which is helping as the final impression New Hampshire voters will have. Particularly McCain’s sunday night answer about change and the surge was absolutely fanastic.
Romney is getting some love from Frank Lunz, and Dick Morris this weekend. I’ll tell you what impressed me about Gov. Romney, he got hit, and hit, and hit and the man kept coming complete with a smile on his face and the same canned joke about his hair. Romney got caught off guard once or twice, but maintained his composure. I don’t think Romney did poorly tonight, even though I can’t stand him.
Following the debate Fred Barnes said the running joke is that Fred Thompson’s 3rd place finish in Iowa was a dissapointment to him only because he had to stay in the race after that. I think Fred came across as probably the best potential nominee. But he also comes across as not to interested in going crazy campaigning.
Rudy I think came across very well, but as somewhat irrelevant.
The Sunday Night debate was much more cogent without that annoyong mosquito Ron Paul buzzing around and making no sense whatsoever. I can’t believe how many millions of people he’s hoodwinked into believing his nonsense. I’ll leave it at that.
All in all it will be interesting to see what impact these debates have.
